# One Match Left > A workshop for two-sentence scary stories. Paste a very short scary story you wrote and see it on an open matchbook: the first line printed on the cover, one match per word of the last sentence, the match at the turn struck and the ones after it burnt out. One metered run finds the word where the story turns, gives one verdict and writes a sharpened two-sentence version in the tone you pick. URL: https://one-match-left.skillsafe.ai/ API tutorial: https://one-match-left.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## Free in the browser - Splits the draft into sentences (Mr. and Dr. do not end one) and numbers the words of the last sentence. - Draws the matchbook as SVG; tap a word to mark where you think the story turns, and see how many words follow it. - Cue words, said as rough hints: threat words such as ghost or blood in the first line, words that tell the reader how to feel (creepy, terrifying), words that explain the twist (because, I realised) and waking-up endings. - Exports: Markdown, a CSV of the matches, the matchbook as SVG, JSON, and print. - A prefilled Reddit post of the draft in the box (first sentence as the title, second as the text); nothing is posted until you submit it on Reddit. ## The paid task: sharpen Input fields (all strings): task (always "sharpen"), story, sentences, last_words, tone (chilling, quiet dread or darkly funny), keep_out, my_turn, page_facts, and optional clip_note and retry_note. Reply: one JSON object with verdict, verdict_reason, gives_it_away, turns, turn_at, turn_word, words_after_turn, first_line_sets_up, last_line_changes, notes (1 to 4, each with kind, a quote copied from the draft and a fix), sharpened (exactly 2 sentences), sharpened_turn_at, sharpened_turn_word, what_changed, title and closing. Verdicts, checked in order: make_it_two (not two sentences), named_too_soon (the first line already names the threat), no_turn (the last sentence does not change what the first meant), cut_the_tail (more than 3 words follow the turn word), otherwise strike_it. The page recomputes the verdict from the reply's own fields and checks the turn word, the quotes and the sharpened version against the draft. Scary, not graphic: no gore, no sexual content, no self-harm and no harm to children or animals shown on the page. A game for fun, not literary or professional advice. ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skill @jwynia/flash-fiction: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@jwynia/flash-fiction
